A lot of what we’ve come to know about the NFL over the past few years has come about through the eyes of an NFL team’s front office.
But it wasn’t always that way.
When the league opened its doors in 1963, the head of the league was a medical doctor named James E. Cavanaugh.
His team was led by Jim Brown, the then-head of the New York Giants, who was known for his tough-guy persona.
It wasn’t until 1969 that Jim Brown took over as the commissioner and the NFL went from being an unknown to a national franchise with a national following.
Since then, a number of different teams have come and gone from the league.
It’s been a wild ride for many players, including a few of the most decorated in league history.
We take a look at the first NFL head coaches that have been fired during the past decade.
